I currently have a Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS mkII but I am considering downgrading to the mkI in the hope of freeing up cash for more pressing purchases.

I know the mkII is better than the mkI but I am only really using it for serious amateur use rather than professional work so will I really notice much difference?

If I sell the mkII and it really is totally mint used twice how much do you reckon I would get? How much are used mkI's going for at the moment? ie how much would I save overall if I do downgrade?

You can get them new with warranty for around £1500, so a fair bit less than that if you want to sell it before Xmas.

Consider the f/4 IS. Sharper than the MkI 2.8 and almost as sharp as the MkII, plus much lighter. Mine is wonderful  though I agree that your lens is even more wonderful. I almost fancy a trade!

Pop an ad in the for sale section - you'll get plenty of interest that's for sure :)

Thanks Hoppy.

They seem to have come down a fair bit in price since I got mine new so I'll have to weigh up if it's worth it.

I know we can't really discuss it in this thread but if you did fancy a trade + cash with the f4 I might be interested.

Stop it Andy, I really can't afford to be messing with that kind of thought right now. Much as I would like to :gag: mostly for the wrong reasons...

Why not just stick an ad up? If you're open to a trade with either a MkI or f/4 IS, or cash, then I'm sure you'll get a few good offers. I'm no expert on these things but I think you'll get a better deal this side of Xmas than t'other.

Good luck :)
