Help!!!! I'm very tempted to buy this lens for my T1i...is it worth it? My Baby graduates from school, I can not afford the IS..I have a decent tripod to compensate the IS....Is my first L lens....Your advise will be very appreciated...thanks.

I would look into hiring a F2.8 or faster zoom for the ceremony as it is likely to be conducted in poor light.
 
I agree with Dave, if this is one of the only likely times you can see yourself needing the wide aperture then hire one!
However that said, I have owned the 70-200 F4 and it was super sharp!
 
If its all you can aford buy it for the quality you will not br disappoint and great value at £485 when compared to none L lenses
 
Another recommendation for hiring a 70-200 f2.8 is, if you have permission to use a tripod (H&S issues) will there be any room?
 
Thank you for your comments, how about cropping factor with my T1i. Can I use this lens for portraits with a non full frame? I have a EF18-200 but not very happy with the quality of the outcomes overall.
 
If you currently use 70+ mm on your 18-200 for portraits then the 70-200 will be fine too ;)
 
It's a very good lens and you can't go wrong with it. They are bargains these days too so you should be able to pick up one for between £370 and £400.
 
I'm also looking to buy this Lens as and upgrade from my 55-250. I'm thinking I should get a used IS version rather than a new non-IS, but I don't have enough posts to view the classifieds unfortunately. I don't use a tripod so would the IS version be worth the extra?

The 70-200mm seems to sell for around £930 new. I dont want to spend that much so how much should I be expecting to pay a used 70-200 F4 IS?
 
Used F4 £350-£400, used F4 IS £650-£700+

IS on F4 is just great.I'm sure you will see the difference.
 
250 quid is a big jump for the IS version, i'd love to buy one but i just cannpt justift spending the extra, maybe i should jusdt grab a non IS version then upgrade when i can afford to as i get better with my camera
