canon 70 - 200 F4 L Lens

You'd probably be able to get roughly the same price via Kerso, and then you know you'll get a full UK Warranty too

I apologise if I'm completely wrong but doesn't Kersos stuff come with an international warranty?

Canon UK will not warrant US imports, no matter who they are from

I think not - Canon EOS lenses all come with an international warranty. As I understand it Kerso imports from the US and there are no warranty issues with the lenses. The only time you might run into an issue is if you import a lens but do not pay duty and VAT on it.

My understanding is that Kerso imports the lenses correctly, and due to the fact they have an international warranty there is no issue whatsoever.
I believe that the cameras Kerso gets are also imported properly, however, they state they only have warranty in the US on their registration card. However, I believe that there has never been a problem with a camera getting warranty that Kerso has imported. I believe you get a full UK receipt.

This is something that you might be lacking getting it from ebay.
I would think it is relatively safe using Kerso

The 70-200L 4 IS I bought recently from Kerso was from the US, like all his stuff I think. It came with a US warranty card.

However, it seems that the trick with warranty is to have a receipt from a UK supplier with a UK address, and Kerso pays UK VAT. It turns out my lens has an EU-wide warranty and that the card that came with it is effectively meaningless - it's the receipt that counts.

Kerso also told me that he has never had any problem with Canon UK.

Yea, my wording may have been off there - I meant a warranty that was still valid in the UK rather than an actual UK warranty. My fault!

Kerso's lenses are CE marked so i think it would be quite hard for Canon to refuse service on them, plus as stated there is a warantee with the seller anyway.

Perhaps Kerso himself can advise? At least we will then have the situation from the horses mouth so to speak.

Ian 'Kerso' Kerr did advise me, in relation to another thread a couple of months ago, and I gave the information then.

I don't know that all his stuff comes from the US, but certainly most of it does. And as such it is not CE, but US spec - as my Canon L lens is. The important bit of the warranty, as far as Canon UK is concerned, is a receipt with a UK address on it. If you take stuff for repair they are not interested in the warranty card at all - just a receipt that is in date, and with a UK postal addy. I think that this may indicate that UK VAT has been paid (and Kerso does pay UK VAT) which may obligate Canon to honour the warranty, but that's just a guess on my part.

Kerso also told me that he has never had any trouble with Canon UK and that, if push came to shove, he "would always look after Talk Photography." The guy is pukka, and his reputation is worth a lot.
