Canon 70-200L 2.8 IS with Extender

Evening all,

I'm going to purchase the above lens next month and have a question relating to the Canon Extenders.

Will the AF still work with this lens and the Extender 2x II on my 500d? If I read the description on the Canon site correctly I figure it will work at f5.6 but not above that - is this correct?

The extender will be used for taking the odd wildlife pic only so the 'minimal' loss in quality won't be a major problem - I think... :thinking:

correct it will work fine
 
Awesome thanks for the super quick replies!!

I'll try and search for few more sample photos of the 2x extender, I have seen a few really good ones but at the same time have heard it does degrade the quality a fair bit...
