Hi

I,ve just bought a Canon 70-200L F4 lens after having it a couple of weeks its developed, or I have only just noticed, what may be a problem with it.
With the camera on one shot I focus and if I then reframe the red focus light flashes and the view finder confirmation flashes.
This started yesterday after getting fault F00 coming up so swiched off removed and replaced the battery and all seemed Ok until I noticed this focus issue.

This doesn,t happen with my other two lenses on the camera.

It may be a coincidence but I have just upgraded the firmware on my 50D from 1.0.2 to 1.0.7.

Any thoughts or is it back to the shop with it.

regards

Rob

F00 is the body not reading the aperture value from the lens. The data stream for aperture is the same path that AF uses so if the AF is working then it's likely to be an electronics problem with the lens. Dirty contacts would normally throw up an error code.

Thanks for that Bob I realised that what I was looking at was the F number on the screen but you beat me to it.

Oh well it looks as if its back to the retailer with it then.

Thanks for the reply
