Canon 70-200mm IS f2.8L

Hi,


I'm looking at getting a Canon 70-200mm IS f2.8L with a 2x TC to place my Sigma 150-500mm. I know that I will lose the 500mm part but I am looking at a better quality lens that is more diverse. Ultimately if I only take this lens out with me then I can do some good general photos, telephoto with the TC and I would also take my extension tubes for some macro work if needed plus a 10mm Sigma. My aim is to reduce the bulk and number of lenses I am carrying around with me when I go out. Any thoughts on this or advice on the performance of the lens especially with the TC?

If you decide to go ahead then make sure it's the MKII as I found the MKI 70-200mm f2.8 IS was not that good with a 2x converter.

Mark 1 or 2 70-200? Also which TC?
I can't give any advice but would also be interested in people's thoughts as I may go this route as well when I am rather more flush!

From what I remember from other people that have used the 70-200/TC combo the best combination is the 70-200L Mk2 and the Canon Mk3 TC.

AF speed will slow down a lot compared to without the TC attached.
