Hi

I have this lens and it seems to have developed a juddering issue when the IS / Focus is seeking. This you tube clip (not mine) seems to show it.
Toying with selling it 'as is' for £100 (non issue ones seem to go for £200)

Does anyone know if there is a fix that can be done easily, recognise the issue, or is interested in taking this off my hands for repairs?

Why not ask the Canon service centre for a quote to repair it?

I'd guess at a faulty IS unit but to prove it you should just be able to turn the IS off and see if the fault goes.

Thanks, will be checking with canon.

Will test it without IS again as well although I think you are right. If I turn is off it focuses fine.

The IS unit is a pretty expensive part, around £120 , so it's probably going to be almost the cost of another used one to repair unless Canon will do it under a fixed price scheme.

According to my Canon service price list, dated March 2013 - I'm pretty sure it's still current - the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM does fall within the scope of their fixed price repair scheme. It will cost you £104.00 including VAT.
