Other than being about £200-£300 more expensive and having the longer legs what can users of these 2 lenses advise me which i should go for?

Im a bit of a noob so all your help will be greatly appreciated.

mainly aviation but the odd wildlife etc. I dont mind the weight as such its more the quality, value and usability im interested in.

As a general rule for wildlife you can never ave enough focal length. The Sigma 150-500 is a great lens and offers the best length performance value you can get.

I've got the Sigma 150-500 OS and it's a cracker of a lens. It's sharp wide open and sharper still up to around f11. If you're not worried about the weight then IMO it's the best value lens around. I compared the Sigma to a Canon 100-400 IS L on both my 5D2 and 5D3 and I was so impressed with the results I sold the Canon and kept the Sigma.

This was taken at 1/800, ISO 1000 at f6.3 and is SOOC, the only PP is a very heavy crop.

Another happy user of the sigma. Anyone use the Canon and have anything to say for it?

i think the canon is sharper,but there again only up to 300mm,sounds like you need a longer lens so its the sigma or a canon 100-400L
 
the extra length would be nice but mainly im just looking for sharpness. Id love the 100-400 L but i think its way outta my price range. Preerably id like the Canon 70-300 L IS but again, too costly for my means.
