Canon 70-300 IS

I've got the 55-250 IS and very impressed with its sharpness and quality - too notch lens! Does anymore know of the 79-300 IS USM will give as sharp results? I've heard a lot that the 70-300 aren't great lens, but want to upgrade to the 79-300 if it'll be as sharp as the 55-250..

Any help appreciated!

Assuming you mean the non L version it's a pretty nice lens from 70 - 200 mm but over 200 mm it gets very soft. Over 200 mm it needs to be stopped down to F8.

I have found the IS very useful.

Whether it's a worthwhile upgrade over the 55-250 I couldn't really say.

Not sure where you heard that. I've got the L and provided it's light it's images are imho great. All the reviews of the non L were pretty complimentary too as I recall. The DO is not so highly regarded though. As to how much of an improvement over your existing lens I couldn't say.
