Canon 70/300L lens

Yea, love it.

Sharp wide open, fast AF, great IS.

100% better than the non-L version, you've also got the full time manual focus option with it being true rather than micro USM. The focus ring in a bit wobbly but other than that build quality is excellent.

Can't seem to work out how to insert these image links but here is the old one

and with the L version

Both are cropped to be < 200k, but taken 1/640, iso200, f7.1 at 300mm within about 30 seconds of each other.

Replaced both my 70-200 F/4L IS and 100-400L with this lens. It is reasonably sized, built like a tank, sharp wide open, fast focussing, and has great IS. IQ is indistinguishable from the 70-200 F/4 IS which for a long time was rated as Canon's sharpest zoom.

Only downside is that the tight gits at Canon decided not to include a tripod collar. I got a 3rd party one from Amazon for £30 which fits and matches perfectly.

It's a fantastic lens. Sold my 100-400 for it and no regrets whatsoever. No wobbly focus ring for me and due to its weight no need for a tripod collar either.

Excellent bit of kit... I only sold mine 'cos I went f/2.8 for everything! :)
