canon 70 focus exposure

i just got a canon 70d but when i focus in live view using autofocus when i move focus square from light to dark exposure changes on screen if i goto manual it doesn't any ideas
 
Sorry Peter, I interpreted your first post "when I go to manual" as meaning manual exposure, not manual focus....ie, M on the dial.

Changing the focus manually will not impact exposure as the camera doesn't know what part of the scene you're focussing on until you half press the shutter. When you autofocus, you've already half pressed the shutter and hence started the exposure.

what i mean is when you are in live view and you move the focus square say from the sky to the grond you should see the exposure change on screen i:e go darker or lighter my friends canon think its a 5d or a 7d not sure but it does it both in manual focus and auto focus
