Lease could I ask if anyone could give some advice on a move from a 450d to one of the above? I'm unsure which would be the best move. Current use is mainly sport or city shots.
If anyone could help with a explanation of which they would go for and why. That would be a great help. Many thanks
 
There is a heck of a difference between the 700D and 70D, the 70D is a big step up from the Rebel range, and a lot more expensive. The 70D is almost on a par with the 7D depending on what features are important to you it would be the 70D if video is the emphasis, and the 7D for action and wildlife. However the 700D is an excellent camera and would probably suffice depending on your budget.

sorry the choice should have said 700d or 7d or the new 70d thank you for your help
 
70D for me as its similar to the 7D on the focus system, similar price and newer.

The 700D isn't in the same millenium compared to the x or xx ranges in functionallity
 
If those are your choices it should be easy to dismiss the 700d as there's nothing it does that's not done better by the other 2.

Next question, how important is fiddly but awesome AF?

The 70d has some great features, the 7d is more a workhorse. One's a top end enthusiast camera - the other is a low end pro camera. Whilst there are many similarities - it's the differences that are important to you.
 
I recently upgraded my 400D to a 70D, and it chalk and cheese. A massive leap forward. I considered the 7D but decided against it because I wanted a top end amateur camera with all the bells and whistles rather than a more professional like camera that's probably due for an update sometime soon.
 
I am in the same boat, moving from a 450D. I have already decided when funds alow to go the 70D route. The spec is alsmost the same as the 7D but it is starting to look a bit dated. When canon Decide to upgrade it the price will likely be out of my range.
 
Well its here... my shiny new 70d...

I'm coming from using 450d for years..parden my language but holly f*** this thing is soooo much better :)

Takes a little geting used to but loving it
 
I recently traded my 7D for a 70D and I couldn't be happier. With the advances in technology, build materials and quality I can honestly say the 70D is the best crop body I've had or used, and that includes the 1D series up to the MkIII. You've got to want a feature or two very badly to pick the 7D, even if it is supposed to be a 'low end pro' model.
