Morning All,
I've been trying to work out what the deal is here and maybe someone with a bit of experience can help me out.
I've got a 7D with a 3rd party grip and 2x 3rd party batteries and I've trying to work out how the battery usage indicators are working so I'll explain what I'm seeing and hopefully someone can put me straight.
Grip out, geniune battery in and I can register it and it displays the usage bar OK (all as expected)
Grip out and either of the 3rd party batteries in and it's the same as above expect I can not register them - all OK so far.
Grip in, geniune battery in either slot - It displays the correct power level but says it's for both batteries. ie it thinks there are 2 in, and I can still register.
Grip in, 3rd party battery in either slot - It displays the correct power level but says it's for both batteries. ie it thinks there are 2 in, and I can not register.
So the odd bit here is the apparent duplication of the batteries in the grip (displaying 2 identical when there is just one) - Is this normal?
Now no matter what combination of genuine/3rd party batteries I use with 2 in the grip, only the left hand one appears to display (again duplicated across the 2 slots) and the right one appears to be not used. I'm not had the time yet to burn the entire battery to see if it switches to the other one but I've gotten down to about 22% and it's still showing the other at 100% when on it's own.
Is this typical of 3rd party grips for the 7D or is it an issue due the lack of chips in the batteries?
Any help would be great.
