forgive me if this has been asked previously.

can any 7d owners tell me if you use a1 servo with af point expansion to track a moving object, do you get red indicators to cofirm focus lock and to tell you which assist points are being used?

if (as canon tell me), this is the case, i seem to have disabled the focus confirmation indicators in the viewfinder. anyone know where the function is?

On my 7D in servo made, yes I'm getting black square highlights to show where focus is locked in the viewfinder. As for which menu item switches it on and off, I'm afraid I don't know.

This worked for me

1. Power the camera on.

2. Press the <MENU> button.

3. Select the [Custom Functions] tab.

4. Select [Custom Function Group III].

5. Press the <SET> button.

6. Select [C.Fn. III-8: VF Display Illumination].

7. Press the <SET> button.

8. Change the setting to [Enable].

9. Press the <SET> button.

so the focus indicator is black not red? and do the assist points show when they are active?

All the relevant focus points will show as black, the central one pluss smaller for the assist points. When in servo, non will light up as focus is continually changing, hence servo mode.

I believe the black focus points will be highlighted red in lower light.

It does this automatically.

There's a summary HERE

C.Fn III > 9 set to Disable will display the surrounding AF points, having this set to Enable shows all the AF points so the expanded ones don't stand out.

They do show up in Servo. I just double-checked to make sure, but they do.
