Canon 7D - Err 30 Message

I got the dreaded Err 30 message a couple of weeks ago on one of my 7D's. It also gives me the old "take the battery out" trick, which sorts the problem for anything between 1 and 50 shots, but it always comes back!!

Can someone please tell me (truthfully) that there's an easy fix, or that it's a very cheap repair if I send it to Canon?! :help: There's no warranty left, and my insurance won't cover it.....:'(

I can't quite pin down what the Err 30 actually means, but I think it's something to do with the shutter sticking.....:shrug:
 
I have heard its sometime happen if you use live view a lot ?

Some pepole have said if you switch of live view,it get rid of the problem.
 
I had this last year, it was happening all the time and the shot before it happened would overexpose as the shutter speed slowed of its own volition. I updated to the latest firmware as a last resort and it hasn't done it since. *goes off to find some wood to touch*

I *think* I'm on the latest software, but its been a while since I checked so that might be worth a look.....:thumbs:
 
I had this error message and it required a new shutter to fix. Sorry it's out of warranty, you could be looking at about £200 to fix it.

I've just rattled off 200+ shots without a memory card in, and it's working fine.....just doing the "batteries out for ten minutes" reset, and I'll try it again with a card in......fingers crossed!!!
 
I've just filled an 8GB card with 280 RAW files, and again, no sign of ERR 30.....:shrug:

Fingers crossed it just needed resetting!!
 
Hope you've got it sorted. I only had it happen once and I had to take both batteries out of my grip and take the grip off completely, then put it all back together and it never happened again. With a bit of luck you've already done it though.

I've tried everything I can to make it ERR 30, but it seems to be okay now!!

I'm 2nd shooting at a wedding this Saturday, so it'll be getting a good workout.....:D
