Canon 7D firmware problems

so much better i had a 7d for about year and a half befroe i got the 5d mk ii when this update came out it went straight on the camera never had any issues this may explain things better worth a read and any issues that came with 2.0 would of been sorted with 2.03

no i dont believe it can be downgrade but trust me you wont want to. trust me 2.0.3 is safe and all KINKS were sorted in 2.0.3. its your choice to not upgrade but you will be missing out :D

I have held back, but now 2.0.3 is out I have just updated it.
I shoot in RAW + L jpeg, and to go from a burst rate of 6 to 15 was all the encouragement I needed.

I know someone who swears that since updating his 7D to 2.0.3 it occasionally switches from RAW to Small JPEG, so he has to check it every time he uses it.

Not sure if he is knocking something but he did say that it has happened quite a few times where he has just been waiting for something to happen and the next burst it has switched to Small JPEG.

Don't know if anyone else has experienced this at all. I held back because it is a one-way process (though I think there is a way to downgrade it again) and the new features are not that important to me (except perhaps ISO limit).

When I had my 7d I can honestly say I never had that problem

Is he using one of the Custom modes and got the jpg setting saved? I think when the camera sleeps it defaults back to your saved settings even though you might of changed them since.

That happens anyway it will always go back saved setting on custom functions as its the programmed setting. To keep it changed you need to save the custom setting again trust me this is not a issue it is supposed to happen it happens on my 5d mk ii
