Canon 7D High ISO noise reduction

Any 7D owners out there who can tell me if there's any advantage in using high ISO noise reduction?

Can I achieve the same results by turning it off & using Noiseware in PP?

Does it degrade image quality at all?

Does it slow high speed shooting?

At the moment I've left it on default setting of standard, shooting RAW.

At the moment I've left it on default setting of standard, shooting RAW.

If you shoot raw, it has no effect other than to potentially slow things as the NR is only applied to JPEG images.
