Completely agree with this.Budget for this will have been agreed and signed-off months ago, so there's more to this IMO.
I suspect there is probably some row over advertising space, or sponsorship etc.

Its got to be the most over rated event of the whole year.
Only 3 FTSE 100's in my time![]()
It's this kind of thing that starts to hurt the viability of the whole show. So Canon pull out this year and dont return next year. Visitor numbers drop, so Nikon decide not to bother. And so it goes on....![]()

They probably realised the cost of going there outweighted any gain.
They were not at one of the bigger shows last year as well IIRC.
a large blow to the Focus organisers [who, I'm sure, will be consulting legal advice as to their position.]
Nah, you have to work for some full on global nutcase company to see this kind of stupidity :bang:

Looks like Pro Photo Solutions will be busy this year then! No great loss for canon really, it's not like they will lose all their custom. I suspect they lost a lot of money putting their kit out there to be mauled by thousands of people...can't say I blame them.
It is. You coming? You've still got a couple of weeks to grow a beard.

I thought focus was only about bearded men that went to shoot pictures of models cause their wives would not let them normally lol
It's obviously a shame for Focus, though Canon must have felt their own show in London suits their target audience better.
Personally the last thing I go to focus for is to look at camera stuff, I'd go to my nearest pro dealer for that. I go to see all the stuff I can't see anywhere else under one roof.

It's hilarious - the amount of people you see wandering around with a 70-200/2.8 strapped to their bodies for an INDOOR TRADE SHOW.
Watching them dribble over the models is pretty grim.

I have never been to focus, but it sounds like everything I don't like about photography under one roof!

Bit sad to read things like this as the model shoots are a minuscule part of the show. There are lots of trade stands where you can ask questions of people in the know about things like lighting, printing etc as well as the opportunity to chat to people from organisation like BIPP, RPS, SWPP etc.
