Canon camera, Olympus flash?

Yes
I need to use a flashgun as a one off for some indoor snaps, but I don't own one, I have a Canon 40D and my dad has an Olympus FL361 flashgun. I've searched around and found that some Canon flash cables can be used with Olympus kit, but nothing mixing hardware.

If I try the flash on my camera am I likely to damage anything? I'm not fussed about metering because I don't mind playing with that manually, I just want to be able to trigger the flash.

Thanks in advance, Dan :).

i did some searching online and couldnt find anything on it. do you know how old it it?

i know nikon and canon use near enough the same voltages with their newer guns but not sure about the other manufacturers.

I didn't get anywhere with this so I bought a 430EX II instead :).

the FL-36 is a current oly flash - You would be fine on the voltage thing but it would have to be used in manual mode I would think. no auto ttl stuff is going to work when the flash isnt dedicated for the camera.
