Canon DPP trouble

Having no cd for my camera ( Canon 400d ) is causing me some issues.

I have managed to download DPP only.

I would like the Utilities, EOS capture etc etc.

So, I have been given the following CD:

Canon DIGITAL EOS Solution Disk v11.0. Came with a 1DS

When i load it onto my laptop it seems to have the drivers for a Canon 1ds ??
The software all loaded on okay but it will not open any of my RAW files ( in this version calls them CR2 files ) no thumbnail either just a grey box with a cross through it.

Any thoughts or do i have to search for a cd that's specific to a 400d ?

Now you have loaded all the software from the disc (presume you have), you should have DPP, image browser, utilities etc if you go to Canon software update on google, head to canon Europe site, punch in your camera details and then look for software, you should be able to upload all the updates for software, you'll then be able to see your files

What might confuse you, windows cannot load .cr2 files, you have to use zoombrowser or dpp.


(well ok, there is a plugin for making some utils see .cr2, but get dpp working first)

I uninstalled all the software then re-installed using the custom function. kept my original version of DPP, installed utilities but didn't install DPP from the cd and didn't install the drivers for the 1ds. I think that was the problem.
Anyway all working ok now.
