Hi all I am thinking of getting the new canon 100-400mm mk ii and I would like to hear others thoughts on this lens, I will be using it solely for wildlife photography, thanks in advance.
 
It's great, sharp, near macro close up, brill with X1.4 (5d3), heavy though :)

p.s mode three IS does work, the IS works so well in m1 while panning you can see it keep hopping back.

I have one and mainly use for motorsport. It's a very capable lens and as mentioned above the close-focus ability can be really useful - especially if you shoot things like butterflys etc. It's quite compact and I wouldn't say it was heavy actually - but it depends what you are used to.

Depending on your camera 400mm may be a bit short at times? If the reach is fine then I'd certainly go for it - great flexibility. I suppose another option to consider is the Sigma 150-600 C or S. I went with the Canon as I just felt AF was a touch faster and more consistent, also when it comes to resale the Canon's have historically held value better (not that I plan on selling).

I love this lens, I have the MkI version too but the newer version is a definite improvement. I put mine on a 7D MkII when I first got the lens and it didn't get removed for about 3 months. I tried it out then on both a 5D MkIII and a 6D and it's just fantastic on them too.
 
Using mine on a 50D and love it. Would like a 7DII to go with it. Need to shift some stuff to help fund one.
