Hi all :wave:

Does anyone have experience of these lenses ? It will be used on a 30D.

I'm after a fisheye lens or an ultrawide and can't use an EFS or any that protrude into the camera body I'm not sure if the Sigmas do? Any other suggestions welcome :)
 
Splog...I didn't quite understand what you were aiming at and seeing that nobody else has replied yet, I may not be the only one.

Care to try again or elaborate?

I can't use EFS lenses as they protrude into the camera body (I will be placing a filter in the light path within the camera body, EFS lenses would hit the filter)

Are the Sigma lenses (10-22mm, 10mm) compatible with FF cameras like 5D, in other words don't protrude into the camera body as in EF lenses?

Hope this makes a bit more sense :D

Picking up the gist of it now....didn't understand the 30D but no EF-S bit at first.

The Sigma 10-20 should work on a FF body so no problems there.

Fisheye or wide angle......two quite different effect really. I had a peep through a 15FE a while back but thought it was a very limited use tool...for me anyway. My wide angle is 14mm on a FF body...114 deg FOV and does the job quite well.

Sorry, can't really help much more but at least I understand where you're heading now.

I'm shure Himupnorth posted some pics with a fisheye but unshure of the make/model.

The 14mm is on the shopping list :D, but can't afford it at the mo ;) I understand the different effects and it doesn't actually matter that much for what I'm doing as I can correct (if needed in software) I note there is also a Sigma 15mm for Canon ..... Anyone use one of these?

I have the Canon 15mm. Its a good, sharp lens. It's not a everyday usage lens and can produce some interesting wa images. Even though its only used occasionally, it is so small and light it tends to be always in my bag.

No experience with the 15mm Sigma but have used their 8mm version - but that is quite different!

I was going to buy the 15mm canon last week and then I had a play with the Sigma 12-24 and bought that as I prefer the more rectilear aspect of the lens and it is also wider.

I use it on the 5D when I want a really wide aov, on my 30D it now lives as the standard lens as I prefer a wide - standard lens (aov 19-38) rather than the normal standard zooms.

I haven't taken any newspaper test shots with it yet to see how sharp it is, but the shots I have taken with it seem fine and the distortion is more than reasonable and (rectified) for the aovs involved.
 
15mm fish will not have much of a "fishy" effect on a cropped sensor camera. The Tokina 10-17 is very popular.

If you are going for a filter behind the lens why not try to go for one with a gelatin filter holder?
