Canon EF 300mm f/4.0L IS USM and EOS 7D

Very common combination, you will find a lot of photos and comments if you search the forum and flickr.
I am using the non-IS version of the same lens with the 7D but used to own the IS too in the past. Works very nicely with the 1.4x TC.

I've the lens and it's a cracker and def worth an investment.

I have been offered a 300mm F/4 IS in excellent condition for about £730.

Am umming and arring at the moment...

Seems a good price to me, especially if you know where it's come from.

Id buy it, if you do decide it's not for you, I don't think you loose much on it / if any if you decided to sell on

The 300 f4 IS is a really good lens, only bettered by Canon's 300 2.8 IS.

I loved mine on my old Canon setup.

This is a great camera lens combo. I used my 300mm f4 first on the 40D and now 7D and it is a cracking sharp lens, even wide open which gives lovely bokeh. Works well with 1.4tc with minimal loss in sharpness although AF is slower. The retractable lens hood is really useful as is the 1.5m closest focus.

Great lens, was my main sport / aviation lens until I upgraded last year to the bigger brother. The f4 works very well with the canon 1.4x TC, but you do need the light to get the best from that combo.

Great lens, works well with the 1.4x TC but to get the best you need the light conditions.
