Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6 L USM Lens - Opinions

Any opinions on this lens from anyone please.

Also, and this may be a stupid question, but is it compatible with digital SLRs? I've looked at a couple on ebay and the camera type stated next to them is 35mm SLR, however some of the reviews I've read say they are used with a 30D or 40D.

The canon website isn't conclusive either, however, I suspect that it is for film only.

I've seen it on a 40D and the 28-300mm IS that replaced it. Gets pretty good reviews from what I've seen although the weight, no weather sealing(?) and lack of IS go against it.

I've had mine for years - last century I think
It's one of those lens that you think cannot possibly be up there with the modern stuff, but then it will throw up a great image when you least expect it! It works fine on digital as well as film (I use mine on a 40d and a 50d.) I occasionally consider selling mine, but always think better of it. I use mine as a go-anywhere/zoo lens because of its great focal range. (It sits in my go-everywhere case: crop digital and full-frame film bodies along with 17-35mm and 35-350mm lens.)
