Canon EF 35mm f/2 Wide Angle AF Lens. Is this a better choice than the Nifty fifty in every way, except price!!

Well.. It's not wide angle for sure, especially on a 450D. What do you want to take pics of?

Err, it depends what you want to do with it.

35/2 will be much better generally than 50/1.8 on a 1.6x sensor like a 450D.

It will feel like using a 56mm lens on a 5D.

I prefer 35mm on crop rather than 50mm. The Canon 35mm f2 is a fine lens!!

Wanted a better lens than the 50mm. Would use it for taking indoor shots, family pics, out and about.

The 35mm F2 is a lovely little lens - I always found the 50mm a little long so 35mm works perfectly.

The 35mm f/2 is a great lens. Everytime I put it on the camera and go out I get something I really like from it. Shame the hood is an extra £20 though.

It has made me want to upgrade to the 35mm f/1.4L down the line as the focal length is great on the 1D as an all rounder being ~43mm.
