Canon EF 55-200mm

I was bought the above lens as a present, but do not seem to be having much joy with it (came 2nd hand).

I am quite new to photography, and I can never seem to focus very well with this lens - is this supposedly a good lens and do I just have a bad case of camera shake? I get normally 1 in 5 shots in focus.

I have a Canon 450D, and am really beginning to worry as my photos never seem to be as sharp as other fantastic photos posted on the web. I also have the kit lens 18-55mm, and a Canon 50 prime lens.

Post up an image that you are not happy with. Your problem may be a focussing issue, or it could be down to camera shake. Posting up an image will help with the diagnosis.
 
You will have to excuse my ignorance as I am new to this forum. I see 'insert image' but it only offers an http code, and there is no browse to attach a photo. How do I do this?

You need to upload the images you want to insert to a site such as photobucket. Once you have done that copy the image code.
Then to insert the image here click the image button and then paste the code in.
Check with preview post before submitting.
