Anybody got this lens I've read a lot about it and it's supposed to be amazing here in the uk you can now pick it up for 1500 good deal you think?
 
The Mk2 were released in April 2010, think they were a fair bit more than £1500 then.

I bought mine about 4 weeks ago for £1530. Am very pleased with it.
 
Differences to the Mk1?
 
I have the mk2.. it brings the f/2.8 up to par with the 70-200/4L IS in terms of image quality. Also the IS clearly better than on mk1. takes a 1.4x extender very very well. I love it.

Also the hood has a good locking mechanism and new texture that doesn't show scratches as much as the old one. Still a bit of a beast to carry 'round but can't help that. :)
 
I have both, I got my mk II from Kerso.
The mk II is sharp as a pin wide open, ZERO complaints about this lens, it is worth every penny!
 
Yep - I've got one as well. I wrote a review on the blog here.

Absolutely brilliant piece of kit. I've just been using this evening it to photograph an event in very low light so it's all wide open at f/2.8 with the stabiliser on and relatively slow shutter speeds. And what a difference it makes compared to the old version (I had the non-IS one). Super sharp, lovely smooth IS - a big improvement.

I've been using it for football and rugby as well (my usual fare) and it's proving its worth already.

I paid £1000 with a px for my old non-IS model, and get the VAT back too.
 
The dodgy simplyelectronics have it for 1499 there's other retailers selling for just I've that price aswell great deal for that price definitely my next lens :D

Bit of a bold statement to put on t'internet, why are they 'dodgy'?
