Had a period of sunshine today so popped out to Burrows Hill at Plymstock to take some images towards Plymouth with the 70-200L f2.8 IS MkII and the new 2.0x MkIII extender.

Nice and contrasty but the 100% crops illustrate that it is best for portrait type work in the <30ft range. In that field, it is exquisite.

Yes, I had one a while ago, I still have a 70-200L f4 IS though.

Few more images, this is a view across Plymouth and into Cornwall taken on the 70-200L f2.8 IS MkII with 2x Extender MkIII taken wide open at f5.6 @ 400mm.

Now whilst this may seem a normal everyday image, the mast that can be clearly seen on Kit Hill is about 20 miles away and the Tamar Bridge uprights are about 6 miles away.

I don't know why but it seems to give much better definition in the shorter range I mentioned.

Sorry just re-read your post and it's the 2x converter you're showcasing. Apologies.

I sold mine as I was never happy with it on any of my lenses.

You couldn't have had it long, the Mk3 has only been on sale a couple of weeks :thinking:
 
I meant a 2x converter. Forums ain't half confusing are they? ;-)
