new ones imported via Canon UK are a little over £500

New they are in the region of 500 pounds. If it's a very good condition second hand lens I'd say its not an unrealistic price to pay. If it's a new lens at that price it could be a grey import which may mean any Canon warranty is doubtful on the lens.

Don't think you can go wrong with that one really.
I had a 100-400mm from them a while back and it was basically brand new.

Don't think the f4 comes with a ring does it? (although you can buy a copy for peanuts.)
You do get a cloth bag though if I remember correctly

You don't get a Tripod ring, buts its so small you barely need it anyway. You do get a Bag and Hood as with all L len's though

i ment to say if some one brought an original not the copy
i have a copy now only cost me £5
