Hi.

This lens AF stopped working. It doesn't move or make a sound.
I think the problem has nothing to do with the AF/MF switch, because the camera recognizes its position.

May the AF motor simply die? Is a new one expensive and hard to fit?
Can it have something disconnected?

Thank you all for your help.

Regards,
Luis

I've got this exact lens, and never had a problem with it.
My only real suggestion apart from getting it repaired by canon, would be to check and clean the contacts, clean with alcohol, you never know, it could work.
But I'm sorry to say that's as far as I would be willing to suggest, apart from repair by canon.

Thanks.

I cleaned the contacts already, with alcohol, but it didn't solve the problem.

The camera detects when I switch to manual/auto focus, so that is not the question, I guess...
