Hi all, just seen this lens advertised for £905 and wondered if anyone had used one and how good they rate it. I was just browsing and came across it and wanted to know how good it was.
 
I have this lens, Its an awsome zoom lens, Image quality is very good with excellent contrast and little or no colour fringing at all and about as good if not better sharpness as a 70-200 f2.8L. It weighs about 1kg is made of metal contruction is comfortable to hold and focus ring is on the inside with the zoom at the end of the barrel, some dont like it but i prefer it tbh, It has a 4 stop immage stabalizer and focusing is internal with full override. But all in all I would say its a superb all round zoom lens but because of the apeture not much good inside without good lighting or high iso. Only downside is it comes with no tripod mount ring and a canon one costs around £140 but you can get a good cheep alternative for around £30.

I would head over to Dxo Mark or pixel peeper if you need to compare performance. At £905 its a bargain imo.

A cheaper alternative is the tamron SP 70-300 DI f4-5.6 at around £340 but the quality is nowhere as good.

I've got one. Love it. Had a 100-400L before but much prefer the 70-300L. :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

I've got a 100-400 already and recently got a Sigma 150-500 OS which I've found to be very good IQ wise. Might be tempted to trade the 100-400 for a 70-300 if I can find a good one. I've got a 70-200 f4 L at the moment and was looking into selling that and putting the money to a 70-200 2.8 IS MkI as well. Thanks for the info and to Richard for the PM and photos.
 
I've got this lens too and love it!! Super sharp!

Taken hand held on my 7D.

There's not a lot else to say other than....fantastic lens!!
I got it by selling on my 300mm f4 L and don't regret it one bit!
