hello would a Canon EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III lens fit a canon eos 1100d camera ? cheers

Yes, it will.
It's a very mediocre lens though, the 55-250 IS is much better even with 50mm less on the long end.
I've owned both, bought a 75-300 on here for very little, tried it out then sold it on here for very little, literally just a few test shots then it was back up for sale.
The 55-250 is a gem of a lens.

ive tried getting onto the Classifieds but it says private and wont let me onto them ? any ideas ?

Time and posts, read the FAQ's and you'll see you have to be here for a certain time and have made enough posts, mainly to stop someone coming on posting twice in a week and using the forum just to sell an item and then scarper. The mods see the sale section as a bonus for long term membership and not a replacement for e-bay :)

Matt
(welcome by the way and I'd echo the comments about the two lenses above)

Brett 2 months on here then you should get access to the sale section. And DO consider the 55-250mm its far superior also has image stabilasation and can be got for just over 100 quid new

55-250s go for around £90-100 on here so not much more than a 75-300.
If you're not in a rush, sit back and enjoy the forum....all good things come to those who wait. ;)

I once had the Canon EF 75-300 f4-5.6 lens, albeit not the lll version, and I have agree that it is a very mediocre lens.

It suffered quite badly from 'lens creep'.

I was going to replace it with the Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM.

However, after reading several reviews, I went for the Tamron SP 70-300 f/4-5.6 Di VC USD, which came out top in this class (price range) of 70-300 lenses.

I can say, that I have been very impressed with the lens, both in terms of results and build quality.

Is also cheaper than the Canon, by around £100.

Don't confuse this Tamron lens with its cheaper brother, the Tamron AF 70-300, they are a very different 'animal', and the AF 70-300 is not in the 'same league' at all.

Yes it'll fit, but as others have said, I'd opt for the Canon 55-250IS over the 75-300.

The 70-300 IS is a much better lens than the 75-300, but carries a price tag with it. If your budget is around the 55-250 price range, go for it ...
