Hi Thinking of getting this lens Canon EF 50 2.5 MAC EFM50mm however can't seam to find any reviews on it:thinking:

I currently have a Sigma F2.8 50MM macro older one that does not realy work on digital but on full manual seams to work most of the time. I find it fantastic quality and was wondering if it was worth getting the Canon.

I hardly do any macro but when I find something I like to take surprice surprice the Sigma fails:(
 
I have one of these...

I read somewhere thet it's Canon's sharpest (prime or 50mm, I can't remember...) and it is sharp. I use mine on APS-C for flower shots, it doesn't give 1:1 but it'll focus close enough for me and flowers. I also use it as a general 50mm prime.

I think it's a pretty good lens once you accept that it doesn't do 1:1, hasn't got USM (or IS...) and isn't lightening fast or a f1.4. After accepting that you don't get all that what you're left with is still pretty good IMVHO.

Sorry it's not the lens for you.

I was after it for Macro so wanting 1:1 hence not for me.

I now its sharp but for general stuff I already have a couple of L glass to take care of walkabout, portrait etc.

Main reason I was asking was that with the Tesco voucher offer it came in a one £100 for me to pay after exchanging the vouchers.

Not in a hurry as in the last 6 months only done macro 2 or 3 times:(
