Canon EF-S 24 mm f/2.8 STM Lens

Thanks Etienne, the main thing I'm interested in are lowish light performance and sharpness, particularly wide open, same as most people I suppose. I often take a lot of interiors, churches and the like, and this looks like it could do the job, your test shots suggest it will, I'll be using it on a 70D. It's cheap enough to take a chance on but I don't want to have something that I don't use. The 24-105 I have can turn in a creditable performance but I'm hoping the extra stop can provide a bit more, even though one's an L with IS and the other not.

Yeah that's the same thought I had. Even on a full frame sensor it's not as wide as you could get but I can see how a lens like this can be used for allsorts.

It's cheap, sharp and small. Even on my 7d2, this leans means it fits in my pocket... Even if it is a pretty large pocket on my jacket lol.

There's no IS so saying it's great for low light is a mixed message. IS would be a great help if you were shooting handheld but then again I'd probably just use a tripod! If I was shooting the inside of churches then I'd probably go for something wider but perhaps you have wider ones and you just want something small?
 
I have a 10-22 for wider shots. I know there isn't much difference between 22 and 24 and it may be just an indulgence but I don't only shoot church interiors and I fancy the fixed, slightly wider aperture and the 10-22 is at f4.5 at max zoom and the 24-105 is at f4 wherever it is. I prefer to shoot hand held so the lack of IS is a bit of a drawback but the 10-22 doesn't have IS. A lot of places don't allow tripods anyway so I have to resort to finding alternatives or be very, very still. The size is also attractive.

Well if you're quite well aware of the 24mm focal length (not that different from 22mm!) and you just want something better then I'd probably go with the bigger lenses that include IS (not the STM version)

If your main concern is side then the choice is obvious :)
 
I have one. Now sits permanently on my 70d. Makes my kit much more portable (my main lens previously was 17-55). Delighted with photo quality and also like the fact that it's silent when videoing. i would agree you just need to be aware that no IS.
