Hello,

Im thinking of getting the Canon 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens to compliment my 18-55mm kit lens.

Just wondering, if anyone has experience with this lens?

Also, it is quite an inexpensive lens considering it is made by Canon and has Image Stabilizer....does the saying, you get what you pay for apply to this?

Cheers,

Mike

I have this lens and it is great, nice and sharp, great IS and really and compact and light. Highly recommended.

I believe it is known as the nifty two-fifty. Has great IQ and costs very little, but not so fantastic build quality. I'd say go for it, for the price you really can't go wrong. If you're used to the 18-55, you won't have any regrets, and the focussing ring is better than the 18-55.

As above really, the 55-250 IS lens is a cracker, esp for the price. It is built to a price, but gives very good results and for the money, don't really think you can beat it

I had this lens a couple of years back. Its a fab lens, I'll find a couple of pics taken with it. I was quite reluctant to let it go! For a 'cheap' lens, the IQ is actually quite impressive :)

I have one and its excellent... but I do not need the reach. So its on ebay and Im after a shorter wider zoom.

If Im not breaking the rules I post the item number: 330427088664

If it breaks the rules mods please remove.

Cheers

Don't think your breaking the rules and why not advertise it on here as well (I think if you read the rules you must be prepared to end your e-bay listing early)

Cheers - I did have it on here but little interest. I would be willing to end the auction early as long as there are no bids (I think thats the ebay rule?)

I bought this lens soon after I got my 450D I really like it and use it most of the time unless the 10-20 is on. I though it was too cheap to be any good and I have been very pleasantly surprised with the results.

go ahead you won't be sorry really nice to handhold and nice balance on my 350D took this with mine

Thanks guys,

I think I will buy it now.

Great example photos!!

Mike
