Canon Eos 1dmkII Randomly Freezes!

I have the above mentioned camera & on 3 seperate occasions during use, it
has just frozen & will not operate.

The screen displays are still there but pressing buttons has no effect. Even
turning it off & back on again makes no difference!

The only way to get it working again is to remove & replace the battery.

Has anyone here had the same problem & was it software/hardware related?

Also, what was the solution or should I just send it in to be checked?

Any recommendations for a suitable camera service centre in the Dover area?

First thing i would do is check the contacts on the lens and lens mount are clean,dirty contacts can do this to your camera..hope this helps..

I trust my lens cleaner with Isopro whoever you spell will do for starters?

You could just give the contacts a rub with the rubber (eraser) on a pencil..should be all you need to do..

Apologies for late reply but since cleaning the contacts between the body & lens,
it hasnt frozen since.

Update..................

Camera switched itself off again a couple of times today.

Press the button, shutter opens & everything goes dead.

Turn off & on, nothing. Remove battery & replace & hey presto.

Found out the cause of the problem.........

3rd party batteries being very slightly loose & losing connection in portrait
position :bonk:

Any ideas on a quick fix other than throwing them away or taping them shut?
