canon eos 30d

EF and EF-S lenses will fit on the 30D, which has a cropped sensor, but EF-S lenses won't fit on a body with a full frame sensor such as the 5D.

Both will autofocus.

As above. You might be able to mount an EFS lens on a full frame body, but the back of the lens will probably catch the mirror and damage it. It would vignette badly too, if you could find a way to make it work.

You can't mount and EF-S lens on a full frame body without doing surgery on it so there is really no danger of accidental damage.

A 18-50mm kit lens or a 50mm f1.8 might be your cheapest options. Just checked Ffordes (although there are other used kit sellers :)) and they have a few kit lenses priced at £59.

£70?! You cheeky so-and-so. ;)

All will work, so you have the best of both worlds and a wide choice of lenses.

Bargain! A 30D was my first DSLR and I still use it, two years later. Great camera.

Thats a bargain!

Your camera will take any Canon fit lens. As long as it is a 30d! Does it say 30d on the badge on the front??

Well after all that it may be going back, too much of a good thing you may say.

The website quotes a 30d and D30 but also quoted 8mp so not a clue what i bought will find out the morrow if it is a D30 it wil be going back will let you know.

Cheers

Tim

Well the badge on the front will tell you! To the right of the lens mount as you look at it, what does it say?!

If its off mpb then I'm sure it's a d30 as i saw that yesterday and then did a search for an indepth review just to get some history of digital canons to pass a bit of time!

Well the d30 says "d30" on the front badge, 30d says "30d"!

What does yours say?!!

Edit - didn't realise you hadn't taken delivery yet!

I saw the D30 there as well yesterday, was also tempted, just for old times sake, it was my first digital SLR. (cost a lot more than £70 back then as well ;) )
