I'm looking for a budget tight flash for my new Canon. New to DSLR so you will have to excuse my questions if I ask! I'm writing down things on my xmas list so I am looking for a low cost flash that will go well with my canon. I'm looking to do some freelance birthdays etc for family so it will need to be good enough for those type of shots. :bang:

Drop Kerso a line, just bought a 430EX II off him myself, for £184 delivered :)

The smaller units aren't really worth bothering with IMO, as they lack a lot of the functionality of the 430 & 580 and don't swivel/tilt so you can't bounce the flash.
 
seriously, get a 430EXII. i got mine for £135 off eBay :D
 
I'd like to throw the Nissin Di866 into the ring for consideration. From 7dayshop.com you can get it for £195 posted.
 
Ok, thank you very much. I will try to get one off of eBay cheaper than brand new. I still need to learn how to use my camera but I do need the flash, next up lens!

Wow, it's rare that amazon beat Kerso, mine was £180 including delivery from amazon.

The best price for a new unit now on Amazon is £200.

Got mine from Kerso a few weeks back, I couldn't afford the 580 and was initially concerned that this would be a serious compromise. whilst it is not as powerful as the 580 and the controls are arguably more fiddly it is still a fantastic flash for the money.

Sorry to be a numpty but is this the one before II ? Is this just as good as II? Should I snap this up or look at something else.
