Canon EOS 60D: Can I set exposure compensation with a Tamron lens?

I have just bought the 60D with the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 lens but I am having difficulty setting exposure compensation. I have checked my handbook which says to check the "unlock" button. I have tried this with no result, so still cannot set exp comp as I like it. Does this mean that you cannot do this with a third party lens? I hope not!

Not sure I understand this Roger, exposure compensation is a function of the Camera and not the lens as far as I know. You should be able to set exposure compensation with any lens I would have thought.

Yes exactly ... as would I have thought, and had with my previous 1000D. Will keep looking and post back.

so - you're in either P Tv or Av mode

half press the shutter release, then immediately turn the dial on the rear of the camera, which should change exposure comp.

if not, press the lock button directly below the dial and try again.

exposure comp. should work with any lens - not just canon's own

Yes thanks .... got it! I was trying to use the dial on the top of the camera as I did on the 1000D, instead of the one on the rear.
