canon eos and m42 infinity adapters

hi !


does anybody has such adapter ?

I was wondering how the glass affects IQ .

really bothers me that I can't use my existing adapter at infinity focus.

Surely you shouldn't need glass for M42 on a Canon? Is your adapter faulty or is it like some of the cheap M42 - Pentax K adapters which are too thick? If so consider a proper M42 - Pentax mounted within a PK - Canon adapter like I do on m4/3
 
no. it's the problem with full frame digi or slr's that when shooting at infinity focus or little less the mirror stucks under the end of the lens.

only solution I've found at the moment is the adapter with glass.
 
With some M42 lenses you have to remove the aperture leaver because this catches on the mirror.

There's a flickr group for manual lenses on EOS bodies and a lot of them use M42 stuff with 5D's without glass adapters so it can be done, but it may require some DIY (which would cripple the lens if you ever plan on using it on an M42 body again).
 
Since these lenses still work so well on Pentax bodies, could I please out in a request from Pentax users to Canon users who keep killing perfectly useful lenses to work on Canon bodies? :)

There are many helpful people on the Manual Focus forum, who can answer all kinds of questions on lens compatibility and repairs/adjustment/refurbishment. Which wide angle lens are you talking about?

meyer opt. 30mm f3.5 not exactly a super wide . but almost ideal for me . if I can't get it to work, I'll need to buy canon's EF 28mm .

I asked here as I wanted a quick fix - e.g. just someone showing me where to get a good one and done deal .

Thats what I was thinking, the Minolta MD to Sony Minolta AF and some of the Nikon ones do. The other problem could be a loss of image quality with an extra bit of glass.

Looks like this guy has the same problem with the rear element colliding with the mirror at infinity.

Pretty much an insurmountable problem, and a pity because they are lovely lenses. Could you try to get a 28mm Takumar instead?
 
yep ! it's a killer lens (not mirror killer :D )! didn't have it when I had crop canon dslr or sony. although . don't remember having any issues when using my helios on 500d canon. or at least not so much. as the mirror is a lot smaller.

other possibility would be tamron adaptall lenses which are quite expensive novadays although killer sharp as well.

takumar would try to touch mirror as well I think. + most of them have 'busy' bokeh imo.
