Canon EOS Lens (film Lens on dSLR?)

I am after a bit of advise, please.

I have the chance of buying the following lens - but need to know if it will work on my new Canon 450D.

Lens is;

Canon Ultrasonic Telephoto Zoom lens. 75-300mm f/4-5.6.

To Fit Canon EOS

Lens no. 0804233D

Chap who had it before used it on his Canon EOS500n film camera.

Any idea's if this would work?
 
as long as it is an ef lens, then yes. ask the seller if it is an ef fitment. canon did make a 75-300EF lens, but not sure if they did it in the FD fitment as well.

I dont think this lens is considered that good from what i read, but im sure someone more knowledgable will be able to help with that.

Yes - it is deffo an EF fitting (according to the box anyway!)

To be honest, I know the lens might not be one of the best, but just after a zoom lens to add to my collection so I can start shooting more.

Depending on what price they are asking and how old the lens is :shrug:

Check out the 55-250 IS lens, this gets good reviews and maybe worth a look depending the price of the 75-300 USM :thumbs:

I used to own a mark one version (few years ago - had from new) and was overall pleased with the results, I did have an odd focus issue at 250-300 zoom when using it for motorsport and trying to servo focus, but was very pleased with some of the photos I got once I managed to get it to lock the focus on. :thumbs:
 
As it is an EOS lens, it'll fit no problem.
Remember the rule of thumb, Full frame (EF) lenses will fit on crop sensor cameras but crop (EFS) lenses will not fit on full frame cameras.
