Canon Eos M for moving kids?

Ok, bit of background first. I currently have a 1Ds mark ii and a fuji X10 and two fast moving small children. My better half's birthday is fast approaching and she has expressed interest in having a camera of her own.

She likes the size of the X10 but finds the lag irritating when trying to capture the kids in their constant state of whirling dervishness so I'm looking at options for her in terms of something she can put in her (admittedly capacious) handbag and carry around. The main requirement would be to be able to focus relatively quickly and have short lag times between pressing the shutter button and capture.

Size wise I'm limited more to CSC mirrorless, but I have no experience of these. I've been reading reviews of the Olympus EM, and Fuji X ranges, but also thought I'd enquire about anyone's experience with these sort of subjects regarding the EOS M system, given that I could lend her lenses for experimenting if she had the adaptor.

I'm aware that autofocus speed with the M was an issue for some before the firmware update, but has it improved to a useful level now? Would people say the Olympus or Fuji systems are better?

I have a max budget of around £700 for body and lens, though of course less would be nice, and have no problems with buying used.

Hi,

I have had mine since Christmas and have found it an excellent all-rounder. I went to my Grandsons's training session a few weeks ago and tried it out with the 22mm pancake lens. I found it best on AF tracking, and continuous shooting.

Aha, that is good to see. I'm in deep poop if I buy something that doesn't do what she wants it for

checkout the sony a6000
but if you want pictures that you and the kids will love, instax beats everything else by *alot*, leica level of magic or maybe more, and its really cheap instead of 7k, which is nice
and there fun to use.
a digital camera is mostly used for stuff the instax cant do, and for taking pics of instax pics.

Had a look at the instax, seems like fun. However, my fiancée is a graphic designer, and she likes digital files to manipulate. Most of the photos will be of the kids, but some will be reference or the basis for some design work. Any particular reason why you would favour the a6000 over anything else?
