Can ya not take macro pic's with the 18-55mm lens that comes with it.??? no matter where i focus the lens the camera won't allow me to take a pic as the focus 'square' goes red if im too close, its a little better if i swap to my 22mm umbrella lens but still can't get close enough.
 
With the kit lens that comes with the camera, no. They usually do not focus close enough, you could crop the image to get closer in processing the shot or purchase a close up filter, that's the cheapest option.

arr ok thanks, ill have to go with the filter as I didn't want to lose any of the image
 
How close are you trying to get? With the zoom set at 55mm you should be able to photograph an area of about 90x60 mm.

Closest focus on the 18-55 is 25cm, it is 15cm on the 22mm pancake lens.

The Raynox 250 actually screws straight onto the 43mm filter thread of the 22mm if you want to get closer at a cheapish price.

I'm doing a picture video & have set camera ratio of 16.9 & need to be very close to the macro images as possible & struggle to even get near your 90x60 unless im doing something wrong.???

To give you an idea, this is about the closest the 22mm + Raynox will go.

The other option is to use the EF-adapter and put a macro lens on it. More expensive than the raynox though :)
