Canon EOS R7 and Canon RF 100-400mm for bird photography?

Afternoon,

It appears I first joined here in 2009 but can't find any of my older posts, but I'm wanting to get a modern camera for bird photography and landscapes (I walk a fair bit in the Lakes/Yorkshire etc). I'm planning on retiring in the not too distant future so this would be a new hobby.

I'd probably get 2nd hand, budget around £1.5k (UK pounds) inc lenses. Flexible in that I'd prefer to get the right kit once vs buy cheap and be disappointed.

Lots of searching and AI chats has basically concluded that an EOS R7 and Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM seem to tick all the boxes, dedicated bird-in-flight recognition, good in low light and just about fits into the budget.

Anyone strongly disagree, and can recommend anything better for the budget?

I've found the camera price buster UK website, and registered on that, and keeping an eye on the usual places like mpb, wex, LCE etc.

Is there any other UK places I should be keeping an eye on? Anything to watch out for if I goto a few stores and handle the body with a lens attached?

thanks in advance,

Greg
