I need some help and am sure you loveley people can more than likely provide an answer so thanks in advance :D

I am trying to update the copyright information on my camera via EOS Utility. I have a 500D and have downloaded the latest version of the software.

I can make it to the screen where you remote control your camera and click the tool icon which lists below it in grey Owners Name, Author etc but all are greyed out, from googling I should be able to click on these....

Any ideas ?

Is the camera connected at the time? I think it might need to be?

Edit: Just realised you must to get onto the remote control it must be, not sure why it's greyed out....

Edit 2: There's a setting on the in-camera menu to clear copyright information, you could always try doing that to reset it if it's got confused? Or that might be greyed out too..... Could you post a screenshot?

IIRC, the camera main dial must be in one of the creative modes before this menu item can be accessed.

I believe it's been that way since the 350D but there's no mention of it in the manual.

Sorry Chris didn't see your edit.

No info had been on the camera before as it's onlyt a couple of months old and never linked it via USB to the lappy until tonight, thanks for the suggestion though
