Sort of, there are no direct correlations between the two ranges. The Nikon models tend to fall between those in the Canon range and vice versa.

Slower fps....technically yes, however in the real world.
No full HD Video, who actually gives a goose.
The manufacturer improve spec because they can.... and because they have too to increase sales. Most of the techno babble iis total c**p.
Too many people purchase cameras based on marketing codswallop..I need say no more.

In the real world, the vast majority of people looking at something like the D300S or 7D, i.e. a top-line crop-sensor camera, will already have invested in either the Canon or Nikon systems and that'll be the deciding factor.

technically is not slower FPS on the D300s. Should be the same.

yeah but i think is 7FPS without grip, still bloody fast lol.
7D and D300s both have pros and cons over each other so no comparision really ....... Both damn good camera.
Of course if canon user already it make sense to go for 7D and vice versa to Nikon user lol

The D300s is comparable to the 50D in that they were both relatively poor upgrades to the D300 and 40D respectively.
The only reason to buy a D300s is because a good D300 isn't available
In theory, Nikon's next top end bodies should be transformatory much like the 7D was for Canon but with Nikon's recent strategic record that's not a certainty.

the D300s is 51 AF point if i remember correctly.
