If you get the 1.4x then the autofocus will still work on the 70-200 f4 but not with the2x unless you use a 1d body. I have heard that the 1.4x is better than the 2x but have only used the 1.4 which works very nicely on a 20-200f4. 2x would autofocus with the 70-200 f2.8.

try getting mkIII instead. I've got the older gen and it really doesn't amaze me. I can get nearly same result by properly interpolating a sharp image from 70-200. Also used it on 200 f/2.8L and that wasn't any better either - less light, more CA, a fair bit softer, and much slower focusing.

The 1.4xTC will work with your 60D and 70-200F4.
Neither will Autofocus with the 2xTC

Not exactly true.......
The canon TCs on all but the 1D series camera's work (autofocus) upto f5.6
On the 1D series they will autofocus upto f8 centre focus point f5.6 - f8
So 70-200mm f4 + 1.4x TC will become a 98-280mm f5.6 lens (auto focuses) on your 60D. 2x TC 70-200 f4 becomes a 140-400mm f8 lens (manual focus only)
As for the 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 (manual focus only with TCs)
I've got both the 1.4 and 2x MKII TCs and with the right lens I've been impressed with the results, but personally with the lenses you have I would go with the 1.4x TC MKII or III as its the 2x TC MKIII that's had the significant changes and improvements over the previous versions.
