Canon fit Sigma 50mm 1.4

Hi all,

Over the last couple of years I have had chance to try lots of different lenses but not the Siggy 50mm 1.4.

Has any tried this and the Canon equivalent on a full frame? What did you think?

Hey Rob, should've asked when you saw me last lol, both here at the moment if you want to try them sometime
Lets just say the Siggy is staying the Canon may well be sold soon ish, Siggy better on crop and ff IMHO.

Bro has one on his 5d Mark2 and it is awesome.

It's become my benchmark for wide-open sharpness when comparing my wide aperture prime lenses.

There is - I understand - some variability in lens sharpness due to funnies in Sigma's quality control department, but my brother's is just spectacular.

As an 80mm equivalent on my 20D, I absolutely love it.

had this on a 5D2, great lens. had to send it back because it was a grey import + needing cash for something else. when i get some more funds i will buy it again. great lens, although i would perhaps suggest the Sigma 85 1.4 is maybe just a little more 'magical'.

I've got one here now. It's borrowed, but I'd buy one if I was buying. Nice lens It's the best there is. I've tried a couple, both good. If I got a duffer by mischance, I'd sent it back to Sigma and get them to sort it.

I'd make sure I got one with the new smooth finish though, there are both new and old finish in the shops right now, although they are supposed to be identical apart from that.

Managed to get hold of one of these now. Just need to give it a run out to see how it performs!
