Hi everyone

I dont know anything about cameras

I have bought my husband a canon DSLR for his birthday a few years back, and this year I want to buy him a flash cable. He has a canon speedlite 430EX.

He keeps telling me how annoying it is when he wants to take portraits and the flash (bounce) is shooting across the room instead hitting the ceiling.
So can you please tell me what I need? I searched and found someone on here..... FIAP (?) selling some but I would like to get him 3 meters worth, not the 1.8 meters.

So does the ebay ones work? if so then can you please tell me which one is the best one and will fit his canon 400D and 430ex?

Also, 1 other question, what is the best thing to power the flash? he goes through alot of batteries. Is re-chargable batteries wise for the flashgun? or is there other power supply I can get him?

Thanks

See Flash in the Pan for Canon flash leads http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=1809813&postcount=6
and other flash stuff.

Might want to consider http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310216844065&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
to keep the flash exactly above the lens when rotating the camera, (not used one of these - maybe others will comment)

Eneloops as mentioned - 7dayshop does their own 'good-to-go' variety http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_3&products_id=107341
Will also need a charger - 7dayshop do various models.

Thanks for the reply :)

I had to google eneloop to find out what it was lol. I was assuming it was some kind of re-charable power pack :P like the ones which has a wire and connects to the flash.
Thanks for the links, I shall have a look at them, are they a safe site to order from?

the ghost. sorry, I didnt actually put a link up. I just types the words e bay without space and it turned into a link...????
anyway. heres the links I was considering as it's a fair bit cheaper, but does cheaper mean worst?

when you say his flash points across the room, i take it thats when the camera is in the vertical (portrait) position.

surely the 430EX can swivel and twist allowing for the flash to point upwards and slightly forwards if he needs.

Yes, but he doesnt want direct flash, I think the photos looke better with the flash bounce as well.

how about the other shop besides 7day shop?

sorry for all the Q's

wont be direct, can get it to face straight up for bounce, just rotate the flash head 90 degrees to the right and hold the camera vertically.
