Canon flash question

I have a 400D, 430EX and 580EX II

I know the 580 can trigger the 430 (works a treat - most impressed)

My question is - can the built-in flash trigger the other 2?

tried to RTFM but doesn't seem to cover it

Nope, you need the ST-E2 which fixes to your hotshoe and acts as the Master. The two flashes will then become slaves.

btw.. you can pick them up 2nd hand for around £100 or less and they work pretty well.

I've been looking at an ST-E2, and did look at e-bay. Your right £100 2nd hand looks to be the going rate, but why bother when T4 cameras are selling new ones a £119. Would be interesting to see what Kerso is charging for new ones too.

Sorry for the thread hijack...I've got the same two flashguns and want to trigger them remotely from the camera as well. I know Canon do the IR trigger but does anyone have any opinions of the RF triggers (Pocket Wizard, Skyport or ebay cheapos) in comparison to the IR?
